Plenty of Room in Sacramento…….Lots of Hotels and More

I’ve been telling you about a lot of good stuff to do in Sacramento.  But it just occurred to me that if you don’t live here in “River City”  you might have to think twice about going to the zoo or an evening of Mexican food and margaritas at Old Sac.  Or maybe you’re just too tired to think about getting somewhere else after that 40 mile bike trek down the American River Trail.  But no worries, I checked it out for you and I found out that there are over a hundred hotels within a 20 mile radius of downtown Sacramento.  That’s a lot of rooms, so you can all come on over and stay a while.  That’s not even counting those cute little Bed and Breakfast places that make you feel like you’re staying over at your Aunt Lucy’s house.  They let you sleep in the spare bedroom and everybody eats a nice big breakfast together in the morning.  Or maybe you’re one of those rugged outdoor types that doesn’t mind sharing a tent with a few critters.  We’ve got lots of camping places for you guys too.  Personally I really like outdoor stuff in the daytime, but I think camping out is Holiday Inn and roughing it is no room service.  But I’ll be glad to come and check on you in the morning to make sure some bear didn’t think you were a part of the leftovers from that cookout over the campfire.  If there’s a proplem I’ll call the ranger on my cell phone.  I think cooking in the great outdoors is a grand idea, but just in case of culinary disaster like forgetting the graham crackers to hold the stuff inside the s’mores together, it’s a good idea to stay within cell phone range of the pizza delivery guy.  You can even bring your RV in case you’re one of those meals-on-wheels types.  If you are, I checked that out too and we have plenty of RV parks so you can hook up for the night.

Speaking of food, no worries about that either, there’s about 10 restaurants for every one of those over 100 hotels, so that means you won’t have to pack a lunch.  I thought about the budget too, the hotels have a price range of under 50 dollars for the no frills traveler to over 400 dollars per night for a luxury river front room with a view; something for everyone.  Same with the food, everything from McDonalds to *****5 star restaurants. I haven’t checked them all personally, but I plan to do that soon and I’ll get back to you.

Okay now that I’ve made everybody feel better about food and a place to stay, I’m feeling a little hungry myself and it’s just not one of those do-it-yourself days in the kitchen.  So I am going out to forage for food in the wild……..Let’s see now, “In-N-Out” or “Mickey Dee’s”???
