Haunted Houses in Sacramento

Published by sara at 5:08 pm under Events, Must See Places

I don’t know if it’s true, but rumor has it that Sacramento has a “real haunted house” at 22nd and H street.  It’s that ghostly time of year with Halloween  only a couple of weeks away, so this would be a great time to check out haunted places both real and fake.  You be the judge haunted or hype?

I’ve been to a real haunted house. They are real. If you don’t believe me, visit one and we’ll see how you feel in the morning. Unfortunately, now I know they are real :|

OMG! That house creeps me out. Me and my friend went there once because we heard it was haunted. I was standing near the tree in front of the house and I got extremely spooked – as if there was something there. We took several pictures of the house as well as that tree. Well, turns out in the pictures that there was a face in the tree that I was standing underneath. There was an illusion of a women standing by the upstairs window in front of the house (dressed in old time clothes) in one of the pictures. Not only that we both at different times saw a little kid appear and disappear in the blink of an eye – my friend saw it near the side of the house and later I saw it near a window. He looked like a kid from olden day movies with the attire and such. We even took a tape recorder with us and walked around the house with it. When we got in the car and played back the tape we heard someone tapping at the railings of the fence as if trying to shoo us away and we heard a loud lions roar – could have been from the lions head mounted on top of that door. Soon after I had us record over the voices and once back home I destroyed the tape. Even deleted all the pictures. Some reason I got super spooked thinking that the ghost may come after me since I have them captured in my camera. Even now, I still have heard of people being able to see the women in their pictures when taken at night. I went there once again in the daytime. Even in the sun and light, the house still looks very dark and gloomy. Now every time I even think about that house it scares me so bad.

My great grandparents built the home at H and 22. It was named for our family for many years. That it is my great aunt (if you believe the ghost stories) that can still be seen looking out of her bedroom window. Rumors the house was haunted started circulating in the mid 1930’s while the house was still quite grand. Blurs that are believed to be her ghost can be seen in almost every old picture we have of the home. My great grandparents are the first “murder suicide” on the books in Sacramento. Though no suicide note was ever found and a motive was never established. My great aunt also committed suicide in the home in 1930. She was found by my grandmother in her room. No note was ever found. My grandmother moved from the house immediately. All three family members were buried in the small cemetery that was located at 26th and G. In the late 1960’s the cemetery was relocated to make way for the construction of the apartments that are there now. The cemetery was moved and is now part of the east lawn on Folsom Blvd. The three caskets associated with my family were reported to not be in their plots. Speculation was that my grandmother may have had the remains moved years before. My grandmother left us in 1956 so to this day their location is a family mystery for all we know she may have relocated them to the property itself.

I was at the front of the house picking up my car a little while ago that was left across the street last night from a night of drinking. I said to my friend who dropped me off to look at the house across the street. I said it looked haunted. He said he was thinking the same thing. I felt a real sense of dread come over me. It was a very wierd feeling as I dont believe in haunted houses, but I felt like I was in the presence of evil. My friend said something to the effect that he felt like he was being watched. As I was driving away I became kind of angry for feeling so foolish and cursed at the house and flipped my middle finger at it. My friend and I decided to go to Starbucks and chat. I dropped my car off at my house and jumped in his car. Well, I can say that my friend has been like a brother to me for over twenty years. As we were driving he started telling me about problems he felt like he normally doesnt trip about and that he felt very disturbed. As I looked over I noticed a tear dripping down his face from underneath his sunglasses. For me to see that emotion from him that i have never seen in twenty years on this very moment was another wierd occurrence. So, we get to Starbucks and sit down with our drinks. I felt an intense pain in the right side of my chest that increased after every breath. I am in serious pain as i am typing this now! So, I am thinking I have the worst heartburn ever and tell my friend to take me home. As we are driving I cant help but think about that house. I still feel creepy inside so i tell my girlfriend that i think I saw a Haunted house and asked her to google haunted houses in Sacramento. Well, guess to my horror what house comes up on the computer screen! I cant believe this! I am a firm believer that this house is haunted and so I had to post this. I have never posted anything on the internet like this and I am kinda freaked out right now.

The house on H St. is very haunted, not only on the inside but the outside also. There is speculation on exactly what kind of tragedy has been in this house from the original owner. I think it was a murder/suicide. But I remember walking by one time and didn’t even know about this house or had ever seen it before. I felt so drawn by it and I walked up to the front gate and just looked around. But I stood there so long and just stared at this house. It did feel like there is a very strong energy or energies in and around it. It is even creepy just to stand on the side walk at night. If you want a little creepy just wait until dark around 10:30pm and just go stand on the side walk, it’s really weird.
