When Senator Mazda notified it’s 55 employees last Friday that it will close the doors it was the first dealership casualty this year. Unfortunately this is not a new trend in the Sacramento region; there were 14 dealership closures in the region last year. At least this closure is not because the dealership is out of money, the owner, Bob Creedon, wanted to retire and knew that in this recession he was unlikely to find someone to buy the business. A specific closure date has not been set because Senator Mazda will continue to liquidate its inventory of new and used vehicles and parts inventory.

Carl “Tobey” Oxholm III has been appointed inaugural dean and chief executive officer of Drexel University’s new Center for Graduate Studies in Sacramento. Oxholm has been with Drexel since 2001 and prior to that he was a practicing attorney in Philadelphia for 22 years. He was a 1979 cum laude graduate of Harvard University Law School. Thanks for helping us raise the collective IQ of our fair city.
We want to extend a friendly Sacramento welcome and say that we consider ourselves lucky to have this Philadelphia Lawyer here in Sacramento.

Great news! A study in Sweden says that people who drink moderate amounts of coffee significantly reduce their risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. As a confirmed coffee addict I’m always looking for reasons to justify my coffee-drinking habit, and this is the best one I’ve found lately. Since there seems to be so many causes for dementia in the human species, like breathing and eating chemicals or probably more often just swimming in the wrong gene pool, anything we can do to prevent the destruction of brain cells is a good thing. Unfortunately I think the key word here is “moderate“, which is not always a policy to which coffee-drinkers or any other substance abusive personalities subscribe.
Just the day after this Finnish-Swedish research showed its results about coffee reducing the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease a separate study published by psychologists at Durham University showed a link between heavy coffee drinking and hallucinations.
So now I’m confused, is it good for me to have that extra cup of coffee or am I hallucinating? Oh well, sure I’ll have a refill…….. reality is overrated.

Coffee is good for you??
