E-Waste Day for Sacramento January 30, 2009

Published by sara under Go Green, Good Things to Know

Got a new printer and still have the old one taking up space on your desk?  Got a new TV and just sat it on top of the old one?  How about that new cell phone, still have the old one in the desk drawer?  Is your home becoming an electronic wasteland?  You know you aren’t supposed to just throw all those old electronic things in the trash but you just don’t know what to do with them?  Well you’re in luck, Friday, January 30, 2009, is E-Waste Day.

You can drop off your old electronic waste to be properly disposed of and recycled at Cal Expo, 1600 Exposition Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95815.  Click on this link for more information and a list of acceptable items that can be recycled.

“Interim” a novel by C.C.Bradley

Published by sara under Good Books

Interim, a novel written by C. C. Bradley, is of the genre most would classify as sci-fi.  But since sci-fi is not my thing, (I only went to see ”Men In Black” because Will Smith was in it.) I have to tell you it is more than just your average run of the mill, scary, sci-fi novel.  It has action with an element of intrigue and a serving of romance on the side.   I normally wouldn’t even notice this great book because I tend to stick with current event and newsy subjects or biographies of people we’ve all heard of but probably will never meet.  I only read this because it was written by a friend of a friend, you know one of those “you really should read this” kind of thing, and I have to say I am glad I took the advice.  I took it with me on a cross country flight, thinking it would put me to sleep by the time we got off the runway, but I didn’t get a wink of sleep and was so into the plot that I barely even noticed when we landed.

“Interim” is set in the year 2094 and gives us a glimpse into the future that reminds us that no matter how much things change they stay the same.  Human nature, love, greed, power and politics all transcend technology.  Remember the Jetsons, as kids that we loved their flying cars and their loveable maid Rosie the Robot, but even though we were fascinated with their technology the human qualities of the family were why we identified with them.  So I recommend that you go to amazon.com and get a copy of “Interim” and see for yourself why even a confirmed non-sci-fi like me would find themselves intrigued and entertained during the journey through an artificial world known as Interim.
