Lance Armstrong’s Bike Stolen in Sacramento

I for one am disappointed that Lance Armstrong’s time trial bike was stolen from the truck that is used to store the team equipment while it was here in Sacramento, (not that I wanted it to be stolen at all).  Not because Lance Armstrong is a world renown cycling champion but because this is one of the biggest events of the year for Sacramento with thousands of people here in our fair city.  I am disappointed because I want not only the people who live here, but all our out of town’s visitors to know Sacramento as a place with great restaurants, hotels, malls, museums, night life in midtown, bike trails, and great people.  I don’t want people to think of Sacramento as a place for petty thieves, vandals, and wondering if it’s safe to be out after dark.  I even joined a group on Facebook called “1 Million Citizens Looking for Lance Armstrong’s Bike”.

So if you are as mad as I am that someone is so petty and selfish that they not only take property that doesn’t belong to them, but gives Sacramento a black eye doing it, keep an eye out for the stolen bike.  Armstrong says it is a one of a kind so it won’t be easy to sell.  Here is a picture of the stolen bike and if anyone sees it be sure to notify police.

UC Davis Challenge for Charity Wine Tasting Benefit and Auction

Published by sara under Events, Good Deals, Sacramento People

Challenge for Charity (C4C) is a business school organization that for over twenty years has been promoting philanthropy among business students by encouraging a lifelong commitment to community involvement and social responsibility.  The UC Davis chapter of C4C supports the Special Olympics of Northern California and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Sacramento.

To raise money for these two great community projects the UC Davis C4C is having its 5th Annual Wine Tasting Benefit and Auction on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 6:00PM to 10:00PM.  The event will be held at the Walter A. Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center, University of California, Davis Campus.  A live auction will begin at 8:00PM.  Usually items to be auctioned at charitable events are donated by businesses so with a little luck you can get some real bargains as well as help a great cause.

General admission tickets are $65 and student tickets only $55 and you can purchase them online at http://www.ucdc4c.org.  What a sweet deal, drinking great wine, socializing with ”Sacramento People”, good deals at the live auction and a chance to check out the UC Davis Campus.  If all of this doesn’t entice you to come out of your cocoon and become a social butterfly, then just consider the chance to help a couple of great community organizations like Special Olympics and Boys and Girls Club.  If you are otherwise occupied or really are a social recluse just click on this link to donate to C4C at UC Davis
