This month, the Downtown Sacramento Partnership (DSP) launched its re-vamped Downtown Walking Tour program to include several specialized tours ranging from art and architecture to cultural, religious and urban history.
The program was developed for both locals and visitors looking for authentic cultural and historical experiences in California’s Capital City. “Downtown Sacramento has so much to offer in the context of state and local history,” said DSP Programming Manager Julia Beckner. “Our new tours were created to represent many historically relevant topics, but there is still plenty of room to grow. We plan on expanding the program in the future.”
Most of the DSP Walking Tours last approximately one hour and cost $10. For full tour details, visit downtownsac.org/tours.
So grab your comfortable walking shoes and head downtown.

A few days ago I wrote a post called 36th Annual Sacramento Jazz Jubilee 2009 to tell you about all the Jazz Musicians and their bands that will be here in Sac Town this weekend. For over 30 years this weekend with all the music and festivities has been called Jazz Jubilee, so being a creature of habit, that’s what I called it. I looked at the official website, wwwsacjazz.com and even passed it along for you to see, and still I didn’t notice it is not a “Jubilee” any more it’s a ”Festival”.
I guess it’s kind of like your little brother ”Mikey” who’s all grown up and his friends from college all think his name is “Michael”. (But he will always be “Mikey” to you.) All that music and food makes me feel really jubilant, but our Jubilee is all grown up now and we have the “Jazz Festival” coming this weekend.
Who cares what it’s called all that jazz is sure to get your toes tappin’ and make you feel festive and jubilant and just plain happy. So come on down to Old Sac and check out the festivities!
