High School Graduation

High School Graduation

High School students everywhere are putting on those funny hats and making parents proud as they listen to hear their name called before walking across the stage to accept their diploma.  This official act marks the end of school for some, but for some it is just the beginning, there’s college, then grad school for doctors and lawyers and such.  But before they can even think that far ahead, there’s entrance exams; ACT or SAT, maybe both.  These little obstacles can determine where they will get accepted for college and how many scholarship dollars they can expect.

Experts tell us the best thing you can do to help your score on these tests is take practice exams so you can improve your test taking skills.  Since these are timed events, practice tests help with learning to manage your time while taking the real test.  Studies show that the more times students take standardized tests, the more the scores improve.  They also give students a baseline score and let them know which areas they need to work on before the real test.

Whether you are signed up to take the test in June or plan to wait for the next one in October there is some good news for Sacramento students.  Connect with Kids is partnering with Sylvan Learning Centers and they are offering a FREE practice SAT and ACT test on Saturday, May 30th at the Greenhaven Sylvan Learning Center at 982 Florin Rd. These free practice tests are open to any high school student.

To register: email sroy@cwknetwork.com with your name, age, school and phone number.

If you can’t make it to these practice exams get to the nearest book store and get a practice exam you can do on your own.  Remember the key to success is practice, practice, practice!
