Sacramento a Great Place for Water Fun on Memorial Day
Memorial Day weekend is here and a lot of Sacramentians will be heading for the water. It seems that every holiday weekend hear about some tragic accident that really didn’t need to happen. If you are going to be cooling off at one of Sacramento’s many lakes and rivers just keep safety on the horizon.

It’s a law that anyone under the age of 13 must wear a life jacket, and a good idea for everybody, so be prepared. If you have out-of-town company or just not enough life jackets to go around Cal Boating has partnered with local fire stations and the CSUS Aquatic Center to make life jackets available to the public on a loan basis. The Department has supplied each location with life jackets for children and adults. An individual or family can check out life jackets for a day or a weekend simply by completing a loan form. Click on this link to get information about the life jacket loan program and to find a location near you.
The California Department of Boating and Waterways has a website with a wealth of information about everything from water safety and the rules of the waterway to the basics of boating as well as a boating facility locator for the entire state. They can also tell you how to buy and register a boat as well as find out if the broker you are working with is licensed. If you need information about a boats or water the place to find it is www.dbw.ca.gov.
Enjoy the water and have a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend!
