October 3, 2009, at 3:00PM thousands of rubber ducks will be take the plunge into the Sacramento River off the I Street Bridge and will race to the Tower Bridge in the 5th Annual Great Sacramento Duck Race, a fund raiser for Special Olympics of Northern California. The rubber duckies will compete in this exciting race for great prizes like free gas & groceries, electronics, airline tickets, vacation getaways and more! All proceeds from the race will support Special Olympics Northern California.  The ceremonial DUCK DUMP will be held at 3:00PM and winners announced at 4:00PM. Old Sacramento’s “Duck Central” at Waterfront Park will feature entertainment & family activities. Local music favorite Hans Eberbach (The Nibblers) will dazzle us with his soulful sounds while the ducklings enjoy face painting, crafts, games & mascots in Quacky’s KidZone.

In West Sacramento, race day festivities will be included as part of the popular “Neighbors Fair”- which kicks off at 11am with a hometown parade, followed by a full day of fun at Riverwalk Park including live bands, food and wares from local artisans.
