Dial 311 for All Sacramento City Services
This weekend is when we turn the clocks back one hour and it will be dark by 5:00 pm next week. This is a great opportunity to make sure the streetlights on your block are functioning properly. Your home light timers might need adjusting as well. If your streetlight is not working, please call 311 with an accurate address such as “in front of 1234 Pocket Road” or “the south east corner of Pocket Road and Greenhaven Drive.” You can also email the information to 311 at the following address:
311@cityofsacramento.org providing an address or accurate location.
Please note that a street light that fluctuates on and off is “cycling” and is getting ready to fail. Those should be called in as well and noted as cycling.
Simply dial 311 for all city services. Continue Reading »

Daylight Saving Time……When Will It end?
It’s that backwards time of year again when we have to turn our clocks back an hour. On Sunday, November 1, 2009, at 2:00AM it is officially time to “fall back” from daylight saving time to standard time. Most prudent clock watchers will take care of this annual task on Saturday night after the little ghosts and goblins finish sweeping the neighborhood for all available treats. Otherwise, in the early morning light there will be those life altering decisions to make; can I hit the snooze ten times or is two the max?….am I an hour early?….an hour late?….will anyone notice?….in five years will I even remember? Frank Fat’s 70th Anniversary Special
My friends and I went to Frank Fat’s at 806 L Street, Sacramento, CA, for dinner and found a real bargain. Frank Fat opened his restaurant in downtown Sacramento in 1939 and the third generation of his family is still serving great Chinese food at the same location. To celebrate their 70th anniversary the price for their Special Anniversary Dinner is only $19.39. I’ve heard it said that Frank Fat’s has the best Chinese food in Sacramento and I will have to say after the feast we had I can’t argue with that statement. Since they have been in Sacramento for 70 years I think they will be around for you to check the food out for yourself, but you better hurry if you want to take advantage of the Anniversary Dinner special price because it’s only good until October 31, 2009.
