Sacramento County to Implement Trans Fat Ban on New Year’s Day 2010

  

California is the first state in the nation to ban trans fat use in restaurants.  This means that beginning with the New Year, nearly 5,500 Sacramento County food establishments will be prohibited from using, storing, distributing or serving food prepared with oil, shortening or margarine containing artificial trans fats. Trans fats reportedly contribute to clogged arteries, strokes and coronary heart disease. AB 97 (Mendoza), signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger in 2008, will phase out the use of artificial trans fats in California restaurants beginning January 1, 2010. Continue Reading »

Sacramento New Year’s Eve Sky Spectacular 2009-2010

December 31, 2009, from 6:00PM to 12:30AM at Waterfront Park, 1000 Front Street, Sacramento, CA 95814, the Heritage Holidays will end with a bang during the annual fireworks show presented by the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau. The evening begins at 6pm with street entertainment, including fire jugglers and multiple strolling bands followed by 9pm and midnight fireworks. California Bay-Delta Water Crisis Featured on “60 Minutes”

The water issues potentially impacting our community, and certainly impacting those downstream from us, are about to enter the national spotlight in a big way. 

 

 

On Sunday, December 27th, the national show “60 Minutes” will feature a segment about the California Bay-Delta Water Crisis.  The reporter is Lesley Stahl and the show runs from 7-8 pm on CBS (Channel 13).

Loaves & Fishes Christmas meal will be on Friday, December 25, 2009, at 11:00am. They are planning on serving a hot meal and giving out Christmas Stockings to over 1,000 people!

Time is running out but if you can help they still need:
