37th Annual Sacramento Jazz Festival and Jubilee May 28 – 31, 2010

There will be dancing in the streets of Sacramento this weekend, well at least a lot of toe tappin’.  The Sacramento Jazz Festival ( formerly known as Jazz Jubilee) starts today, May 28, 2010, and runs through Memorial Day on Monday, May 31, 2010.     There’s a parade in Old Sac to kick things off and there are 24 venues and about 70 bands that will offer more than 450 sets of live music all over Old Sac, Midtown and in the Sacramento Convention Center.  Besides all the music you can sip suds on a riverboat, ride on a train, explore the CA State Railroad Museum, learn about the Gold Rush or just sit a spell and watch all the people having a good time.

For more information click on this link to the 37th annual Sacramento Jazz Festival and Jubilee website.   Sacramento is one of the best places you can be for this Memorial Day Weekend, so whether you do a little toe tappin’ or just kick off your shoes and prop up you feet……enjoy the weekend.

Sacramento One of America’s Top 10 Underrated Cities

It comes as no surprise to those of us who know and love Sacramento and are proud to call it our home, but Yahoo Travel has named Sacramento along with nine other cities as one of America’s Top 10 Underrated Cities.  Sherman’s Travel (whoever they are) says, “These overlooked and underrated cities are ready to emerge from the shadows into the limelight…..”   They actually had some very nice things to say about Sacramento and if you would like to read the praises they gave us or maybe check out some of the other overlooked and underrated cities, click on this link to Yahoo Travel.  I knew Sacramento was a nice place to live, but sometimes it just sounds better when someone else says it for you.

By Jeffrey Weidel

It was truly a chamber of commerce day as the wife and I cruised down Highway 1 south of Monterey in early May with absolutely no destination in mind.

With the rocky, shoreline of the Pacific Ocean on one side and the mountainous landscape on the other, seemingly every mile of the trip was worthy of a photo.

Of course, it didn’t hurt that we were motoring along in the BMW X5, an extremely agile, midsize luxury sport utility vehicle. Continue Reading »
