Something new is coming to Sacramento!  The Grand Opening of the library for the Pocket-Greenhaven area is on Saturday, August 28, 2010.  To make it official the ceremony begins at 10 am with the ribbon-cutting at 11 am and cake to celebrate at noon.  It’s sort of like a wedding, even if you aren’t really into the ceremony come for the cake.  Oh yeah, and lots of books for FREE too!

Brown Bag Poetry at the Library is presented by Sacramento Poetry Center at Sacramento Public Library- Central Branch on Thursday, August 19, 2010, from noon to 1:00PM.  It’s FREE, so bring your lunch and save a little money while you enjoy a little rhyming.

The Sacramento Poetry Center will hold a poetry reading at noon on the Third Thursday of every month. Bring your lunch and a favorite poem–or read from material available in the library. Sacramento poets Mary Zeppa and Lawrence Dinkins will host the session.

Saturday, August 7, 2010 enjoy a FREE movie in the park at North Natomas Community Park, 5151 Crest Drive, Sacramento, CA.  The movie is “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”.  This is a fun movie for kids and big people as well.  The movie start time is sundown but the fun children’s activities start at 7:00PM.

Tonight, August 6, 2010, is the final movie night at Gibson Ranch at 8556 Gibson Ranch Road, Elverta, CA  95626.  The movie tonight is Flicka 2 and will be shown on a giant inflatable screen provided by Sierra Outdoor Cinema.  There is a $6 per car entry fee so “pack up the babies and grab the old ladies” and head out to Gibson Ranch for a real bargain and a night of family fun.

On August 7-8, 2010, the 25^th Annual Festa Italiana is presented by Sacramento Italian Cultural Society at Croation American Cultural Center, 3730 Auburn Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95821.  All Things Italian in Sacramento!
