On Thursday, March 4th, 2010, from 7:30AM - 8:00PM California First Lady Maria Shriver and The Women’s Conference are partnering with The California Museum, 1020 O Street, Sacramento, CA, to celebrate National Women’s History Month with an all-day free event - Day at The Museum. Their goal is to inspire women to be architects of change, be empowered by the strong female community in California, and be educated about opportunities, health issues and the endless possibilities for everyone. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2009, at 5:00PM, is the Red Carpet and Induction Ceremony for the California Hall of Fame. The California Museum will be inducting thirteen remarkable individuals on December 1st into the California Hall of Fame, an honor, event and institution. Governor Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver will recognize these legendary Californians who have displayed a spirit of innovation and inspiration at an intimate induction ceremony, reception and exhibit opening at the Museum. Today, September 22, 2009, is California Museum day at Big Spoon Yogurt. If you say the three magic words, “The California Museum” when you purchase your frozen yummies today they will donate 30% of your purchase to the Museum. So enjoy yourself and help a good cause.

On Saturday, March 28, 2009, from 10:00AM to 2:00PM the California Museum, 1020 O Street, Sacramento, CA 95814, will celebrate Barbie’s 50th with a book-signing for Robin Gerber’s newest biography, ”Barbie and Ruth”. The book tells the story of Mattel founder Ruth Handler and the creation of Barbie. From 11:00AM to 12:00PM, Gerber will lead a discussion on Handler and Barbie’s legacy of the last 50 years and then sign her new book, which can be purchased in the Museum’s store.
The Museum will also have a display of about 200 Barbies, ranging from vintage to designer, as well as the only Maria Shriver Barbie Doll which is housed in the Museum’s vintage Barbie display.
There will also be arts and crafts projects for the family. This is a great chance for a day of mother-daughter bonding, as well as an interesting close of Women’s History Month.
