April is National Poetry Month

Obviously I am not a real poet because it’s April 6th and I just found out that April is National Poetry Month.  Even though my poetry prowess begins and ends with “roses are red and violets are blue……” I have great respect for those who know the difference between iambic pentameter and haiku.  My point is not to highlight my lack of rhyming skills, but to share with you my new found knowledge that we are in the midst of National Poetry Month so we can celebrate it along with all the poetic people in Sacramento and all of California. California Hall of Fame Red Carpet Ceremony December 1, 2009

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2009, at 5:00PM, is the Red Carpet and Induction Ceremony for the California Hall of Fame.  The California Museum will be inducting thirteen remarkable individuals on December 1st into the California Hall of Fame, an honor, event and institution. Governor Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver will recognize these legendary Californians who have displayed a spirit of innovation and inspiration at an intimate induction ceremony, reception and exhibit opening at the Museum. Judge Gives OK for Governor to Furlough State Workers

Earlier this month Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger ordered furloughs for state workers to help the budget crunch.  Two state employee unions took the governor to court to challenge his authority to force workers to take unpaid time off.  Today Judge Patrick Marlette sided with the governor and said “The current circumstances constitute an emergency.”  His ruling allows the Schwarzenegger’s plan to go ahead.  The furloughs will be for two days a month beginning next week.
