Email from Obama

I’m feeling important again today.  You guessed it; I got another personal email from Barak Obama.  It’s a pretty fancy message too with a video right in the middle; they must have a cracker jack tech team at the white house.  No invites to a cabinet meeting yet, but I’m on the email list.  I also got a notice that I won the Canadian Lottery, an offer for a free cell phone, and a message from a widow in Africa that needs my help getting her money out of the country and away from all the corrupt people trying to cheat her out of her fortune, it’s so bad she has offered me half her money if I will just help her.  I’ll deal with those other opportunities later, but first I need to tell you what the President wanted in his email. Today, Thursday, May 21, 2009, is “Bike to Work Day”.  If you work anywhere near the Capitol you can bike over to the Capitol Bike Fest happening from 11:00AM to 1:00PM on the west steps of the Capitol.  Or maybe you are starting your Memorial Day holiday a little early and can just bike on downtown for the music, prizes, and award presentations and drawing for bicycles.  If you bring your bike you can get a free bike safety check and there will also be safe staffed valet parking for your bike.

On the south steps of the Capitol at the same 11:00AM to 1:00PM time frame is the 6th annual “Step Into Wellness Faire”, with more than 40 vendors and music from the Wooden Nickel Band.

If that’s not enough, on the east side of the capitol, First Lady Maria Shriver will be planting a garden to demonstrate how easy and healthy it is to grow your own food and what good exercise it is to garden.

The gardening program will have booths of information, from making healthy smoothies to recipes for the food you grow, with samples. Add the 49 exhibitors at the Fitness Fair, and all those at the BikeFest, and you’ll have more than 100 tables of information on healthy living.
